The Dean Playmate J is an acoustic guitar big enough for younger players but not small enough to come off as a toy. The 7/8-size is perfect for taking around to rehearsals and to grow into for a beginner. Likewise it’s big sound is great for a pro to use as a traveling guitar.

Quality:
looks good, feels good and plays well for the paltry $100 that I paid for the thing. I have compared it to chinese low-cost guitars and the fit and finish is better on this squire.
Value:
I play it every day and not well. for $100 it is a great deal in my opinion. I will play it until it busts and buy another. I may get one for my office and one for my car trunk. I have a prestine gibson L48 and another $300 acustic and an American Strat. The Squire gets played much more than the others combined. Good deal for the money.
Desirability:
Chicks see me with this guitar and they know that I am a music god and should be considered in thier fantasies each and every night. Just kidding, this guitar has zero sex appeal. it is a great beater guitar.
Sound:
It sounds good enough, I love this little, cheap guitar. I play it everyday because I keep in on the sofa in the living room. If it gets destroyed, I am out $100 and I will buy another.
Ease of Use:
very good for the money. needs to be tuned almost every day. Just a little out of tune though.
Overall:
IDEAL FOR THE NARROW NICHE OF A $100 GUITAR FOR BEATING ON, PLAYING AND TOSSING ON THE SOFA.

Feature:
Guitar. 6 Strings. I think that it came with a nylon bag. Tuners work well and are consistent which is surprising on an instrument at this price.
Quality:
Fit and finish are better than what one would expect at this price but not as nice as the Taylors/Martins (see comment above).
Value:
Excellent. I can leave this in the living room and not have a heart attack when the kids who I (sort of) originally got it for crash into it.
Desirability:
I would buy another. I would specify the color. I was not aware of this and wound up with a pink guitar – not bad but would have prefered a natural finish.
Sound:
I would put this up against some of the $250 travel size taylors in sound. It sounds really good!
Ease of Use:
Very Good. Guitar. Tune it and play. Acoustic pin – bridge takes some getting used to for this electric player on the first go round but it is the standard. The guitar stays in tune! I can pick it up and play it and it is 99% in tune almost all of the time – and I live in Florida.

NA – Have not used. Information on the company is fairly hard to find, but they are getting more popular with the Dimebag models.

Excellent value.

Feature:
The gig bag, included in the purchase, is of fine quality, well-padded, and travels well. The guitar has the usual Martin beauty and feel.
Value:
In this size, I compared the Little Martin primarily with the Baby Taylor, and I found the Martin to be richer and fuller in sound, and more solid in feel, than the Taylor. Even comparing the Little Martin to larger guitars (by other makers) I didn’t hear anything out there that could touch the Martin for quality sound in this price range.
Sound:
I bought my first Martin (00016) for that famous Martin sound…rich and full. But I wanted something slightly smaller and less expensive with which to travel, take outdoors, and instruct the younger members of my family. I tried many other guitars for this purpose, but none had that rich sound I wanted. When I brought home my Little Martin, I compared its sound to my 00016, and it’s unbelievably close in tone and fullness. I don’t know how Martin can get such rich sound out of a guitar of this size, but it does. This is by far the best sound for the size and the money.
