User Reviews:
Feature:
Well, you can connect two sets of active monitors to the M Patch, switch between these and also use both sets simultaneously. There also is a pair of stereo line-in´s to connect a seperate audio source, for example a CD or cassette player. There is a stereo/mono swith and also a mute button. There also is a headphone output with a seperate volume control.

Quality:
Good quality, yes there is a sturdy quality feel to this unit

Value:
Good value, you can´t get anything better for that price

Desirability:
I got it already, zZounds asks about Sex Appeal here, what a studid qusetion, we are talking about a piece of gear, not about Marylin Monroe

Sound:
The sound of this unit is crystal clear. The M Patch 2 is a passive monitor controller, so the sound going through the M Patch is not influenced by any electrics. This unit is for professional use. I can not say anything about the quality of the headphone output because I have never used the headphone out, for headphones I use a seperate headphone amp

Ease of Use:
How easy can it be. Read the owners manual

Support:
I do not know, did not need their support, and hope that I never will need it. So I give this a 5

Overall:
Overall ist a 10 – The Best

Feature:
The multiple source inputs switching work great for me although being able route different sources to different outputs would have great too.

Quality:
Sounds good. No hiss or any other noticeable noise.

Value:
For FORTY bucks? Even at twice that it would have a great value.

Desirability:
Not that pretty looking.

Sound:
I was a little unsure of buying this item after reading a bad review of mon800 for it’s dirty sound. So the first thing I wanted to check out after bringing it home was the sound quality. I cranked up ALL mon800′s controls to MAX and plugged in the headphones to expecting to here some noise, I heard nothing… no hiss crackles or anything like that.

Ease of Use:
Pretty straight forward.

Support:
don’t know, haven’t tried it yet.

Overall:
Go buy one and try it out. Don’t listen to people who are testing this out with noisy input signals.

Feature:
I can’t mix without this box ever again. It is designed perfectly for professionals and allows you to check your mix through different speakers plus compare your mix with other sources. I have a CD player plugged into the optical inputs, my IPOD in the RCA inputs and my DAW coming in from SPDIF of my RME interface.

Quality:
It’s built solid. Doesn’t feel cheap at all.

Value:
Just buy it. You won’t regret it. There’s nothing that comes close to this below $3k.

Desirability:
Works perfectly. This is a great addition to any studio.

Sound:
what you put in is what you get out. Also the D/A converter sounded better than my interface.

Ease of Use:
It’s really self explanatory. one thing i just discovered is the fact that you can send different mixes to the headphone amps than what you hear in the control room. GREAT FEATURE.

Support:
I haven’t needed any support with the Central Station I’ve called Presonus in the past and they were very helpful.

Overall:
I really can’t imagine doing a mix without the Central Station now that I’ve had it in my studio for a while. Only small gripe is that I wish it had AES inputs. But hey, you can’t ask for too much with a $500 pricetag.

Mackie Big Knob Studio Control CenterBig Knob is perfectly suited to a range of applications beyond desktop music making, including home stereo systems, keyboard/guitar rigs, high-end multimedia systems, archiving LP’s to CD, classrooms and boardrooms, and more.
Price: $299.95 Buy now!

User Reviews:
Feature:
Only wish it could do 5.1

Quality:
Seems well built (for studio equipment), don’t think it was really designed for road use.

Value:
Bit pricey, but probably best balance of quality/features/price I seen.

Desirability:
Looks sharp, and once you grab a Big Knob you’ll never want to let go.

Sound:
Noticed no degradation of sound quality (in-line between E-MU 1820M and PM5s). Just make sure you get your levels right – more than just pressing bal/unbal button.

Ease of Use:
After reading manual, any confusion was cleared up (lots of i/o, some of it for larger studio functions that don’t apply for me)

Support:
N/A

Overall:
Would buy again, but if I were a bit richer, I might buy the PreSonus Central station (all the i/o of the Mackie, plus digital – and a smaller footprint [with the add-on controller]) but you do trade mixing for switching on the inputs.

KRK Ergo Studio Monitor Room ProcessorA great mix starts with a great recording room. But when it comes to achieving the most accurate mix, your room may have the upper hand. Like any room, your studio’s acoustics include offending frequencies and room reflections, and none of these are helping your mix. Getting a handle on these problems has traditionally meant the installation of soft foam or fabrics, and that’s a great start. But now you can get even closer to a perfect room, and a perfect mix, because the future of studio sound is here, and it’s called ERGO.
