Feature:
So many choices in this thing. Makes it worth investing in a catalog or sample manager.

Quality:
No problems so far. Couldn’t be easier to install and use.

Value:
About what you’d expect for dropping $200+…..if you haven’t already invested in a soft sampler. I paid less than that and think it was a good purchase.

Desirability:
I really wanted to round out my XV and this does it pretty well.

Sound:
Ensemble – absolutely! So many useful sounds on this expansion. Great for all but the most demanding orchestrator. Solo – Definitely! Some very useful voices in this card. Pump these sounds into a rich hall impulse and wow!

Support:
Inconsistency is a consistent theme with Roland Support. Compared to somebody like TC Electronic – Roland is a 3. If you find a “REAL” person and the right one to solve your problem…you might rate Rolad higher.

Overall:
I wouldn’t want to do commercial work without it. Unless I had Garritan or better.

Feature:
This didn’t really matter. The feature it lacked, we’re better sounds. After all, this is a sound board, it has to be good.

Quality:
Fair, you wouldn’t spill water on it.

Value:
No, $30.00 is the most someone should pay for this item!!!

Desirability:
“Sex appeal” what kind of question is this. This is a sound board, it needs to be unique and full of life. Each sound should make you want to cry!

Sound:
This is an average run of the mill sound card. It has about 20, count em’ 20 decent sounds on the entire board.

Support:
Yes, they have good customer support, but the programmer of this board was a tard.

Overall:
The time it took to preview the sounds is the amount of time it will take you to realize you should have went with something else! This sound board works better as a cup coaster.

Feature:
You get very little for the buck. Many sounds are repetitive. I enjoyed no more than a dozen patches. There are no Rhythm sets, as could be imagined, and there are 100 patches total.

Quality:
Roland is superb when it comes to durability. I’ve been using Roland products for ten years, and I’ve never had to call them once or return a purchase. It goes without saying: Where and who you buy from are important consumer considerations.

Value:
I’ve already discussed this.

Desirability:
I don’t feel this applies. A product is nothing if it does not function adequately and responsively. I could care less what a product looks like. The questions are: Does it work, and does it work well beyond my expectations?

Sound:
The sound quality of this board is not worth the purchase. I hate to say that because I am a HUGE Roland fan and have quite a bit of Roland synth

Feature:
This card doesn’t have any rhythm jams on it. And the sound selection offered was pretty tiny compared to what I’ve paid for on other srx cards.

Quality:
I’m glad I purchased it. It adds to my keys library. The sound is pretty warm considering it’s coming from a digital place.

Value:
I was getting a good deal on it and it’s selling for mo’ on the net and other joints. Still think I wasn’t getting enough for the asking price (the list price and what I actually paid for it). They could have added mo’. The presets from #51 and on only operate on certain Roland devices (go check) and they’re not all that.

Sound:
Sound quality is smashing if you’re out to get that vintage sound from the 70′s… that’s what I’ve extracted from it.

Ease of Use:
Haven’t read the manual, there’s a lot to be said and not read about plug and play.

Feature:
Comes with complete instructions and even an installation tool!

Quality:
Standard Roland build quality, Which is to say it’s excellent

Desirability:
I bought it, I have it, I love it.

Sound:
Simply speaking, the “classic” sounds in this SRX card should have been included in the FantomX in the first place. They are GORGEOUS. I’m very picky about Wurlitzer EP sounds, for instance. The Wurlies in this card are both much better than those in the factory patch set, but also better than everything else I’ve heard. It blows away NI’s “Elecktrik Piano”, for instance. GREAT Mellotron sounds, GREAT String Machine sounds (it nails Omni2 and Solina, for instance) Good collection of classic synth patches as well. Captures a good sense of Moogs, Oberheims, Jupiters, etc. … not perfect, but identifiable and useful.

Support:
Roland suppoert is always a mixed bag. Call early, and hope you get one of the “good guys”.

Overall:
This will be a standard part of my setup for at least the next 10 years.
