Behringer FBQ2496 Feedback Destroyer ProThe FBQ2496 is the fastest (>0.2 sec.) and the only 96kHz feedback suppressor on the market. Using an ultra-fast feedback detection algorithm, it automatically and ‘intelligently’ locates up to 20 feedback frequencies per channel and sets extremely narrow notch filters to ‘destroy’ them, leaving the remainder of the signal virtually untouched.

Quality:
I have had no problems with the unit. I did have the cheaper Behringer older unit ad I had “clock hash” noise always at a low level coming through and it was much slower and harder to use. This unit has worked very well.

Value:
Great value.

Desirability:
Looks like a piece of rack mount audio gear, nothing special.

Sound:
No noise from the unit, and it does a great job of suppressing feedback. Too difficult to use as a parametric EQ, don’t waste your time.

Ease of Use:
Easy to set up for Feedback suppression, and that is what I bought it for. I have used it for over a year in my band’s monitor amp & EQ rack. We run four separate monitor mixes and I have used it to suppress feedback on two of those channels. Other channels feedback is regulated by a much more expensive Sabine filter and it does the same job at less than 25% the cost! Way to go Behringer.

Support:
no experience

Overall:
This unit meets my band’s needs and I don’t plan on replacing it.

IT HAS A LOT OF USES AND THAT’S WHY I KEEP GOING BACK TO IT. IN THE PROCESS I’VE GAINED A NEW RESPECT FOR IT.

Quality:
THE FIRST ONE I BOUGHT WAS USED IN THE STORE AND SOMEONE ABUSED IT. THE CORD JACK WAS FAULTY. THE STORE REPLACED IT FOR ME BUT THE EXPERIENCE TAINTED MY INITIAL PERCEPTION. NO PROBLEMS WITH THE REPLACEMENT.

Value:
FOR THE PRICE IT’S A VERY HANDY TOOL.

Desirability:
N/A

Sound:
IT COLORS THE SOUND A BIT AND YOU HAVE TO WORK WITH IT AND YOUR EQ SETTINGS TO GET A NICE FULL SOUND, BUT IT’S FINE. I WROTE A REVIEW A FEW MONTHS BACK WHEN I FIRST GOT IT AND AT THAT TIME THOUGHT IT WAS ONLY GOOD ENOUGH FOR PRACTICES BUT NOT FOR ACTUAL PERFORMANCES. I’VE CHANGED MY MIND.

Support:
I HAVEN’T DEALT DIRECTLY WITH BEHRINGER, BUT THE STORE WAS ABLE TO QUICKLY ORDER THE REPLACEMENT.

Overall:
I BOUGHT IT ORIGINALLY FOR THE FEEDBACK SUPPRESSION FEATURE. THAT’S THE ONLY THING THAT IS A LITTLE DISAPPOINTING. IT DOESN’T REACT QUICKLY ENOUGH FOR MY LIKING, BUT THEN AGAIN THE NOISE GATE IS GOOD FOR PREVENTING FEEDBACK, WHICH IS MORE IMPORTANT. I DIDN’T EXPECT TO USE IT AS AS A MIC PRE-AMP WITH PHANTOM POWER FOR RECORDING PURPOSES – I WAS INTENDING TO BUY SOMETHING BETTER FOR THAT PUPOSE. BUT ONCE I GOT WORKING WITH IT I SOON REALIZED THAT WITH ENOUGH TWEAKING YOU CAN ACTUALLY GET SOME VERY GOOD SOUNDS AND IT IS FAIRLY LOW NOISE. GREAT VALUE FOR THE MONEY!

Feature:
The fact that the unit easily doubles as a parametric equalizer is a very nice extra.

Quality:
Some Behringer build quality is a bit suspect (I had a power switch fall off of its post and rattle around inside the unit’s case for a while), but I have not had any of my three units die on me. They have performed quite well in a mobile PA that moves quite a bit.

Value:
This unit is an extremely valuable tool that I absolutely MUST have to do my job properly. Having both EQ and feedback extermination in one affordable unit is fantastic.

Desirability:
Its functionality makes it appealing, but it probably won’t win any beauty contests.

Sound:
This unit really does perform as advertised, in that it (when used correctly) doesn’t wreak havoc with the tone of the PA when used to eliminate feedback. Its parametric equalization functions have been absolutely instrumental in getting workable sound from even some cheap PA cabinets with piezo loaded horns.

Support:
I have to give Behringer the benefit of the doubt, as I have never dealt with their support for these units.

Overall:
I have yet to find any other unit that offers exactly what I want in the way that this unti does.
