Feature:
It comes with a mount for your boom that let’s it swing in and out when you play it, but keeps the choke edge pointed towards you.

Value:
Pretty stiff, but worth it. I like my Roland cymbals better than Hart or Pintech gear.

Desirability:
If you use Roland gear, you need one of these. Get the 15″ if you can afford it. I’m going to upgrade to one as soon as I can, but I will keep this one for a crash.

Sound:
It’s good. Pretty broad range of sensitivity. You have to hit the bell pretty hard to get it to trigger.

Support:
Never used them. No problems with my Roland gear yet.

Overall:
It’s a pretty heavy piece which I think makes it feel much more like an accoustic cymbal. Your ride is one of the most used pieces on your kit, so get a good one.

See above, natural feel and variety of sound choices

Quality:
Roland Quality = Excellent

Value:
You get what you pay for..

Desirability:
Well it’s not a 22″ Brass cymbal which is a thing of beauty, but hey, it can sound like one, or 50 other cymbals for that matter..

Sound:
The Roland V Drums and CY class of cymbals are excellent. The CY15R Ride Cymbal is very responsive to both light sensitive stick work or hard driving playing. The Edge, Bow and Bell areas feel very real to me and the sounds?? Well you have dozens of sounds choices via a TD-20 Module. You can custom select various cymbal sounds seperatley for both Bell/Bow or Edge Bow, for example you could have a China sound on the edge and a Ride sound for the bow/bell areas. Very flexible soundscapes..

Ease of Use:
Plug and Play

Support:
I own a dual TD-20 Vdrums kit with 20 drums/cymbals/pads, an SPD-S Sampling pad, 2 Fantom X7 keyboards, all used in studio and for live shows, very satisfied with Roland at home and at play..

Overall:
So far this is the best I have found..

Feature:
Everything works as it should; including both trigger zones. The trigger zones are wide too! But you HAVE to buy a seperate mount to add to existing drums. The recommended mount for hi-hat (mdh-10u) needs to be a little longer. That’s my ONLY complaint… The mount works fine but I like my hi-hats to sit a little higher than what’s possible with the mdh-10u.

Quality:
It’s Roland. That about says it all. Can’t ask for any better.

Value:
For the money; can’t go wrong. Affordable and high quality.

Desirability:
Looks great; even better in person.

Sound:
The trigger response is excellent for use a hi-hat. Much better than the standard PD-8! Closer feel to a real hi-hat than the PD-8.

Ease of Use:
No problems triggering at all. Simply works with no tweaking other than setting the trigger type in your drum module. (when you first hook it up)

Support:
Never had to use it.

Overall:
Best bang for the buck for a veteran drummer.

Feature:
This trigger comes with EVERYTHING you need to hook it up and get banging!

Quality:
For the price, I can’t believe the quality! My other set is WAY more expensive, but this trigger, and the set it’s expanding, are right up there with it!

Value:
Don’t bother with online auctions, zZounds prices and shipping are at least competitive if not better, and like I said, customer service is off the chart!

Sound:
I have the Alesis DM5 Kit and bought this extra cymbal trigger as an add on. It sounds great! The only reason I don’t give a full out 10 is because I also own a Roland drum kit, much more expensive, so not a fair comparison, but this still rates a 9 up against it!

Ease of Use:
Very straight forward setup, would be nigh on impossible to mess it up!

Support:
I went with a warehouse repack at first. There was a defect and I had to exchange it for an actual new cymbal trigger. The new replacement was at my door BEFORE I COULD FINISH PACKING AND SENDING OFF THE DEFECTIVE ONE! These guys don’t mess around on customer service!

Overall:
I would’ve been happy with the very minor blemish on the repack, but the defective trigger was a no-go. But zZounds wasted no time at all replacing it with the new trigger, no hassles, no headaches! The new trigger is great and I will add on again when funds permit.

Roland CY8 12 Inch VCymbal Dual TriggerThe CY-8 cymbals offer “swinging” motion with great response, separate bow/edge triggering and choke capabilities, plus a fresh new look that more closely resembles a real cymbal.

User Reviews:
Feature:
“natural swing” should be more like natural bounce. I have 5 cy-14C’s and 1 cy – 15R. These do not swing like the CY-14 c’s do, even though they have the same description as the cy-14 with the natural swing. The cymbal does work, but if you want your Roland V drums to feel as close to playing acoustic drums as possible, buy cy-12, 14, 15 cymbals instead.

Quality:
The CY-8 does not seem to be constructed as well as the CY 12, 14 & 15.

Value:
Yes, its worth the price; especially if you are on a budget. If you have extra money laying around, but the cy 12, 14 or 15 cymbals. As for me, i was looking to add a splash type cymbal to my set and decided for the price, the cy-8 looked good. At some point, i will probably replace this with a CY – 12 R/C

Sound:
It is quiet, just like other roland CY cymbals when struck

Ease of Use:
as good as the other Roland V drum products.

Support:
I have not needed any service so i rated rolands support at a 5.
