Feature:
The switches on the mic make it versatile to the user.
Quality:
I’m not planning on smashing this mic, but the only reason I rated this an 8, was because of its plastic.
Value:
You won’t find a USB mic this nice for a cheaper price.
Desirability:
Some may not like the tan color, but it matches with my table. The blue light matches with my laptop, but I’m not too picky on colors.
Sound:
Great for vocals. Not sure about instruments.
Ease of Use:
It’s really as easy as it sounds. Just plug and play.
Support:
Don’t take my word on this. Never needed support.
Overall:
Great mic for a great price. The sound is clear, and it’s extremely easy to use. Will buy more.
Similar to the M177 except with an adjustable Polar Pattern, the M179 features a dual-sided, externally-biased capsule with a gold sputtered 1.1 in. diaphragm. The M179 has a high-speed, low-noise operational amplifier, coupled with a new discrete high-efficiency power supply circuit. This results in incredibly low noise, low distortion and fast transient response. The M179 will even work with 24-volt phantom power supplies! The M179 also features a non-capacitive 20 dB pad switch and an 80 Hz high-pass filter.

Features a nice alluminum cary case and mount. Might should have a spider mount too.
Quality:
Solid. Well designed. Feels good. Oooh!
Value:
Why else buy one of these if it was not valuable? I mean, look at the specs. Read some reviews. See the frequency response. This mic is one hell of a deal considering its quality sound, construction, and features.
Desirability:
Well now. Look at this mic. Either you like it or you don’t I thought it looked kind of weird, you know, but in a good way. CAD had the guts to design a mic that went a little off the beaten path, but not too far off, like certain mic companies we could name.
Sound:
This mic reproduces sounds with very respectable accuracy. I am pleased, very pleased, with its overall sonic performance abilities. Its sensitivity is impressive. It hears tiny detail. A good choice for in house recording. In other words, it sounds great.
Support:
Support? Well, I think the mic stand supports it pretty good. . . just kidding. It has not broken, so no need of support.
Overall:
I really like this mic. I am happy with it. I keep it under my pillow at night and. . . just kidding. I own many microphones, and they all have certain distinct uses. This one is for studio use to record ANYTHING I want! Really. It’s that good.

Feature:
The switchable pickup patterns are GREAT! I love them! However, I gave this a 7 because my 6 pin cable didn’t last very long (about 6 months) under NO abuse or movement, and fining a replacement has been UNSUCCESFUL!!!! If anyone out there knows of a replacement (6 pin) please email me (dw154515@reddies.hsu.edu)
Quality:
I give a 7 simply because of the 6 pin cable issue (see above) but the mic itself is in great shape.
Value:
You really cant beat the sound. I truly love it!
Desirability:
Its hot!
Sound:
Great warm sound…. nothing else to say! Its Great!
Ease of Use:
Its a tube mic… plug it up, turn it on, let it set for a little while, make rich warm sounds!
Support:
Tried emailing them twice about a replacement cable, but they have failed to return a response. (Its been around 3 months since I contacted them the first time)
Overall:
Great mic, but be sure to pick up an extra 6 pin cable if you can ever get your hands on one!!
The CM100 microphones have a wide, flat frequency response which provides unsurpassed, natural, transparent sound quality. Their cardioid pickup pattern minimizes annoying feedback when used close to sound reinforcement speakers and monitors, while reducing the pickup of unwanted off-axis sounds.

Feature:
It comes with a really handy carrying case which is great if your using them for live events. Also they come with clips so its really easy to set everything up.
Quality:
These are actually pretty sturdy mics. Again if you need mics for live use, these are a great choice. Comes with the carrying case, they are very durable (i’ve whacked them with a drum stick many times) and get a decent enough sound for live shows.
Value:
Quite good value for the price your paying. If you have no drum mics at all i would recommend getting this to get things started.
Sound:
The sounds of these microphones are alright. Probably what you’d expect for the price. They are a great deal if you needs some live drum mics, but are not the best choice for recording. The Pencil mics it comes with are actually pretty good for recording though. They give a nice clean high end sound out of my crashes. The bass mic, and snare mic however do not sound overly great in a recording.
Ease of Use:
Getting a good sound with the pencil mics wasnt so hard, but getting a good sound from my bass drum and snare drum were very difficult when recording with these. Now when recording I use the pencil mics for my overheads, an SM57 for the snare, the tom mic this comes with for the hi tom, and a large diaphram condenser for the floor tom…Im also thinking of getting a new bass mic.

The newest series from CAD, all Trion mics feature dual diaphragms and come in 3 different flavors. The Trion 7000 is dual ribbon microphone with with great articulation.

User Reviews:
Feature:
Not a lot of features but it’s a ribbon. What do you expect?
Quality:
They have to cut costs somewhere. The mic itself seems pretty sturdy. The mounting portion of the basket is very good and will hold the mic in any position required, but the clips that hold the mic in the basket are pretty flimsy. Be careful and it will last a long time.
Value:
You will not finder a nicer ribbon at this price.
Desirability:
Well…. I bought it…. and I would definately buy another one.
Sound:
This thing sounds great! The only reason I give it a 9 and not a 10 is that there are better ones out there… .but not at this price. Absolutely OUTSTANDING on electric guitar cabs. Very nice on accoustic guitar and pretty good for vocals too. It’s pretty flat so what you put in is pretty much what you get out. It’s not a Royer but you can get 5 of these for the price of 1 Royer.
Ease of Use:
Put the basket on a stand and put the mic in the basket… point and record. Wonderful.

Overall:
I suspect that I will not tire of this mic. I have more expensive ribbons but this one will always find a use in my studio.
