Bugera 1960 Classic Guitar Amplifier Head (150 Watts)Bugera did a lot of listening to obscure, long-departed Brit designs and spent most of last year tweaking to get hand-selected EL34s and ECC83s to play nice together. They added a no-compromise non-master volume for direct signal path and a huge output transformer with specially nested windings for increased dynamic response and clarity. Ladies, gentlemen and olde chums, meet the BUGERA 1960.

Feature:
All the same features as a XXX plus it has reverb. Awesome. The only thing I didnt like about this amp is that the power chord is about 3 feet long.

Quality:
For the price you cannot beat it!!!

Value:
Awesome value.

Desirability:
Knobs are plastic. All though the knobs are plastic they have some kind of bendy effect to them so they dont break off like many XXX knobs I have seen break off. The Plastic silver things on the front of the amp near the logo came off the amp as soon as I got it out of the box. ( I took them off they didnt fall off) It looks very nice without them. The inside of the amp from what I saw looked very clean. No mess, no loose wires, no problems.

Sound:
Sounds BETTER than the XXX I sold to get it. The Clean is Cleaner than the XXX. The Crunch channel of the amp sounds like they blended Marshall and Peavey distortion together. It is very very usable. The Lead channel is heavy and heavenly. It sounds clearer than the ultra channel on a xxx. I did replace the preamp tubes with mesa boogie preamp tubes though. Keep that in mind please.

Ease of Use:
Um ok next question.

Support:
Havent had to deal with them… yet.

Overall:
You cannot get a better amp for the price.

Componants concidered, how do they do it for the price?yes chinese labour.

Sound:
Past laney owner! purchased the Burgera 6260 combo.First impression, sturdy well made construction(and heavy).letting the amp warm up for 10mins, the sound was a bit dissapointing, there was obvious midtone colouration with EQ at flat, pulling back on mid helped, after about 4 hours of use it did seem to improve, so ther could be a burning in of the valves to concider. i purchased a quad matching set of EL34s and adjusted bias setting, this defo sorted the midtone, but at a price of the whole sound sounding thick, not as punchy as the 6L6s. again swapped to the original Burgera 6L6s and kept useing untill a definate improvement was apparent, so there is a definate burning in process. This is a lot of kit for the price, only time will reveal if its reliable. this amp has certainly got umph, deep deep grunts to bright highs.

Ease of Use:
Play around!

Feature:
The xl feature is probably the only cool feature on the entire amp. It gives it a more distortioned sound with changing the tone just a bit.

Quality:
THis is my third one….I sent it back the first time because the thing was wired poorly and caused the tubes to fry….and the sencond time i sent back for the same reason, and now the thing gives horrible feedback and sometimes doesnt turn on.

Sound:
This is a great sounding amp……when it works!!!! All three channels have their own unique sound, and all can be modified to find almost any sound your looking for. The clean channel is very clean and crisp, and the distortion channels both have a lot of crunch to them.

Ease of Use:
very easy to use…love the options on all the channels!!!

Feature:
It has an effects loop and preamp out. No master which blows. The footswitch is a nightmare. They set it up really wierd. The crunch and clean channels are basically the same channel. Sometimes when I step on the clean button on the footswitch it spits me over to the lead channel. what’s up with that?

Quality:
Looks like it’s built ok.

Value:
Honestly, I would stay away and save up some money for something in the 1,500 price range, but for $500 you can make sound.

Desirability:
Nothing special really.

Sound:
The clean is kind of cruddy but it’s the best part of the amp. You cannot get a good crunch tone out of this amp with the stock tubes. You will never sound like Angus Young with this amp, sorry (6L6). The high gain sounds mushy and almost like white noise or the snowball fuzz you get when you turn on the tv and there’s no channel there. Imagine somebody saying “shhhh!”. I does have an OK low-end chomp to it, but for a lead guitar player this amp is definite crap. Notes are undefined and don’t sustain all that well unless the gain is WAY up. I play extremely fast, and this amp just can’t keep up (like when your computer is slow and you can type faster than it, same idea). I have to slow down to about 180bpm or even 160 just to get distinction between notes.

Ease of Use:
It’s easy to use, but hard to get any sounds that I like. Enough said.

Overall:
The moment I played it I wanted to be rid of it.
