Feature:
Well, the basic features are fantastic; THE SIZE, the tight and friendly sequencer, the separate outs, pads, great mac/pc compabillity etc. But the effect unit is really not impressive, it’sa not just very basic, I miss some essential stuff there, like why isn’t there a delay on board? Same thing with the filters, they sound very weak and digital. I’m also a bit disappointed with the envelopes and dynamic sample editing/manipulation in general. My EMU sampler from 1995 (approx 150

Feature:
Its everything MPC and some. I like the chop shop and phrase sampling. The different quantize options are amazing, with note shifting, etc. The ‘swing’ on this machine is superb.
Quality:
Pretty well built, compact and looks very professional. Its got a nice tilt screen, and i like the clicky wheel. The pads feel great for programming drums.
Value:
For the money, you get what you pay for. Its solid, tight and delivers.
Desirability:
looks very slick on my desk next to my laptop. It blends in well with my other gear. Its beautifully designed ground up. The MPC logo on the back screen is a nice touch. The mpc 2500 looks like the mpc 3000le, but slimmer and slicker.
Sound:
What you put in, is what you get out. With the right drum samples, this thing sounds fat on the bottom and sweet on the top. Its a fairly punchy sound, with a nice thump on kicks. The sound is pretty focused, not muddy or lo fi like the old samplers.
Ease of Use:
Once you started playing with it, you get the hang of the main feature pretty quickly. Its a small learning curve.
Support:
I dont like Akai support, but who needs them.
Overall:
Great machine, excellent feel for drums, perfect for any studio.

Feature:
It has great features and works with almost any program, however I’ve found that the keys and pads translate information too slowly to play fluently. For a person use to using a triton, this was a huge letdown.
Quality:
I h.ad it about two weeks, then one of the function controls bent somehow. The pads were also very soft. They say that they mimic the mpc pads, but they feel like something made by fisher price. I like the pads on Korg’s midi controller better
Value:
I would have been better off buying the m-audio 88 key controller which goes for the same price, but transposes information faster.
Desirability:
The sexiness of it was probably the final factor in me choosing to try this product versus others
Sound:
U can’t really rate something for sound if it doesn’t actually create sounds can u?
Ease of Use:
I found it very easy to set up the parameters and preset functions.
Support:
I didn’t have to call anyone except the company I brought it from to exchange it for a better and more reliable product.
Overall:
I wouldn’t want anyone to steal it, because then i couldn’t get my money back, but if they did, i’d take my insurance $ and spend it on the next thing. Akai tried, but they still have some improvements to make. I guess when everyone is making bs equipment for 1/2 ass musicians, u can get away with selling a piece of garbage like this. it was a huge waste of money.

Feature:
Template Presets in it are good for guru and battery.
Quality:
sturdy, good so far.
Value:
really good. Considering i bought a crappy radium keyboard controler for the same price a few years ago. the radium is so fragile feelign sometimes im afraid to play it. This MPD feels like it can take a beating.
Desirability:
Looks nice. Practical. Fun. Cool dials that you can turn indefinatly (or until your wrist breaks)
Sound:
Well it doesnt make sound, its jsut a midi controller. I really have to beat it hard to get the right strength to my hits. Id like to just lightly tap but i guess you cant do that on this. Other than that it Responds well in Ableton live though. Used it with Guru, Battery and a bunch of other Vsti. Anything ive tried it with for that matter. Have yet to use it in Reason.
Ease of Use:
I find i have to drum harder on this than id like to. I set it up to be as sensitive as possible to my hits but it still wasnt enough so i curved my velocitys in Live to be harder hitting. i guess i jsut drum relaxed… or maybe my fingers are hollow. On a pc, i found it very easy to install if you know the basics about computers and are farmiliar with using a midi controller with your sequencer

N/A yet
Overall:
Good. I look forward to making some swingin beats with the quantitization off.

Feature:
Find out for yourself before I make you bouncing off the wall so you can get it.
Quality:
You do not want me to get into talking about the quality so I will just say I give it a 10/10 – no actully I give it extra credit it’s 15/10
Value:
The price is expensive but I think it’s worth, people think it’s smaller so it must have less features – not true. It’s smaller with same features, people should be happy it’s this much because if they knew what the MPC500 had they would know it’s worth more than $2000.
Desirability:
Damn! This thang is sexy. This thang got ass. It got curves. The looks attracted me when I first saw it. Love at first sight.
Sound:
The sound is I should say number one. The sound responds even better than I imagined. It is a real easy device because it’s just the same as other MPC’s but smaller and portable. It has an incredible sequencer. It’s design is simple and sexy.
Ease of Use:
Real easy, it is the most easiest MPC I have ever worked with. It’s just like a PSP because the real PSP system is PS2 and the MPC500 is just like MPC2500/MPC4000 but same quality and same sound just smaller, the PS2 might have better graphics than PSP but that isn’t how the MPC500 is, this MPC is the same thing as it’s brothers.
Support:
Real nice company real friendly.
Overall:
This my baby I ain’t never gon’ break up with it.
