Feature:
Nothing fancy. Just your basic acoustic.
Quality:
Seems well made although not very durable. I’m very careful handling it because it doesn’t appear it can take much punishment. Definately a “play at home” guitar.
Value:
Since it’s a Martin, it should hold its value until I’m ready to move up to the next level (D-17 or D-18)
Sound:
Nice, rich sound. Best I’ve played in this price range.
Support:
Haven’t dealt directly with Martin but the dealer was very helpful and gave me a pretty good deal.
Overall:
Excellent instrument until you save enough money to but a real guitar.

The sunburst color is awesome.
Sound:
This guitar sounds great with D’Addario EJ26 custom light it gives it a nice tone with very little buzz.

The New Yorker is the smallest profile Takamine, and a traditional old-time guitar shape that produces an immediate, clear, full-bodied tone that evokes the old 78 rpm records of the 1940’s. The strumming voice is sharp and airy, and when played finger-style, the New Yorker sings with a sweetness and character that makes the player want to dig a little deeper into the roots of American music.

Quality:
The sound is good to great but the finish has much to be desired. Lots of trash in the finish and the side of the fingerboard is stained for color and you can see where they taped the neck. some of the binding around the fingerboard has gaps.
Desirability:
The abalone is done very well. Looks good over all
Sound:
Has a good sound for the size of the body. Great for fingerstyle blues.
Ease of Use:
Action was really high when it arrived. I had to adjust the neck and lower the saddle. Neck is very straight so I dropped the saddle and still had no fret buzz.
Overall:
I’ll keep this because it fits my use and sounds good.
Within the Martin tradition of great sound and beautiful looking guitars, the D1 is no exception. A solid Spruce top and Mahogany back and sides give the D1 clear and precise tones.

Feature:
The ‘lack’ of the fancy stuff doesn’t bother me. However, compared to the Taylor 200 series, which has ebony fingerboard and saddle and is in the same class as the D-1, the D-1 falls short.
Quality:
I haven’t had any problems with ANYTHING. The tuners work well. The saddle is stable. The guitar stays in tune well. I can’t complain.
Value:
The Taylor 200 series may give this D-1 the run for the money.
Sound:
The sound is really good, balanced with decent bass response. Obviously doesn’t compare to the more expensive Martins/Taylors. But, it did well compared to a $2000 Gibson!
Support:
I didn’t have issues to deal with their support team.
Overall:
I’m very happy with the purchase, the sound, the playability and the hardware. I just wish I would have tried the Taylor 200 series in the similar price range.
