The ZED 4-Bus series takes inspiration from different product lines within the A&H range, combining them with fresh new ideas to give stunning results in a neat and easy to use package. The padless DuoPre mic/line pre-amplifier is the new design first implemented on the ZED14 and delivers a high-headroom, low-noise signal. The 4 band, 2 sweep EQ, along with the low noise summing amps, is borrowed from the acclaimed GL2400, while the bus architecture is a simplified, but equally comprehensive, version of that employed in the successful GL series.

Feature:
Firewire card is great addition. I use this as my soundcard for Cubase 4 and it works great!
Quality:
It’s solid!
Value:
With the firewire card I paid $1200 for both brand new…that’s a killer deal. 16ins with Onyx pre’s is for $1200 is amazing
Desirability:
It’s a bit long, but the entire back pod can come off and mount underneath…great design!
Sound:
Good sounding board, great pre-amps!
Ease of Use:
It’s rather simple, but as usual you need some tech support and to read the manual
Support:
It’s possibly the worst tech support I have ever worked with. I am an original owner of a d8b and HDR24/96 and have always hated working with their tech dept.
Overall:
Great rig for recording!

Thousands of recordings have been tracked and mixed solely on a 1604. Designing a mixer to take its place was a tremendous challenge, indeed. But Mackie’s engineering team thrives on this kind of stuff, so they tackled this one head on, creating one of the best compact mixers we’ve ever offered: the Mackie 1604-VLZ3.
